How To Choose A Good Quality Bluetooth Speaker

Posted on 9th September 2021

There is no life without music, we all know it. And what can be better than relaxing on a couch on a Sunday, listening to your favourite songs through a nice, good quality speaker? Barely anything, that’s for sure. But choosing a good speaker is a task that you must not take lightly. You have to make sure that you choose something that will serve you for years to come, something that will bring you joy and happiness, and make the space around you appear as though you were in a dream. Too much? We don’t think so. It’s definitely worth investing in something that will make you feel proud and pleased with your purchase. Therefore, we’ve created a list of tips that will help you select just the right speaker for you. Just keep on reading!

Where do you want to use your speaker?

Let’s start from the beginning. First and foremost, you need to ask yourself this question as the type of speaker you might need might vary depending on where you want to keep it. Is it something you’re purchasing for your small bedroom? Or perhaps you want to use it while in the bathroom, taking a shower? Or maybe you’re looking for something that would go into your huge living room and would entertain the guests during a party? What about the outdoor area? Do you need a speaker there?

As you can see, there are a lot of serious questions you need to consider first before you dive into looking at those speakers online. After all, the market is filled with different types of speakers that might not even be suitable for you. You want to disregard those and move on to something that is going to be a good fit for you and your situation. So, to get started just sit down and think this through – maybe you need something small, or the opposite – something powerful that would really bring out that sound. Don’t be afraid to let your imagination run wild for a moment, and then come back to reality with your decision.

We’re not buying yet

When that’s all done, you will have another decision to make – determine your budget. As it goes with everything you buy, this is just meant to make your search a little bit easier and perhaps a little faster. Imagine having to scroll through all the items that neither interest you or are way too expensive. You simply don’t want that. So why would you want to waste your time like that, right? Therefore, do some research, check the prices and then decide how much you are willing to spend on a good speaker. That will be your starting point.

Let’s talk audio quality

It is obvious that you want to get the best quality for the money you are willing to spend. But realistically, what should you be looking for? Check the specifications – you’re on a hunt for a total harmonic distortion as well as a good frequency response. Figures that you need to keep in mind are, for example, 100 Hz to 20 Hz. What you need to know is that the first one is the low frequency, and the second one is the top frequency. Focus more on the low frequency as this is something you will be able to actually hear, because this is the level of bass you might expect from your speaker. Obviously, the lower it goes, the better it gets. That’s just one of the useful tips you might want to keep in mind for the future.

"After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music."

- Aldous Huxley

Next up – battery life

Nobody wants a speaker or any kind of device that would play only for up to 30 minutes and then would turn off. That’s no good! And that’s definitely not worth investing in. You need to keep in mind, however, that some of the small speakers don’t last too long because their battery is small but take a look at some larger speakers and their ability to play music for hours! You don’t need to invest in a massive speaker, just something that would fit perfectly in the space we sure you have already thought of.

But let’s talk about the operation hours of the speakers. You might expect to see from four to ten hours on the specification, depending on a speaker itself. This is the average playing time, but there is one thing you need to remember – the louder you play your music, podcast, or whatever it is that you are listening to, the more current it will use up and the battery will die quicker. So, you might want to think twice before you purchase something with a small battery, as those tend to need a recharge more often than the ones with a larger battery.

Last but not least

So, once you have decided on all the above stuff, it’s time to consider whether you want a waterproof speaker. Obviously, it would be incredibly convenient, as then you would be able to use it literally anywhere and you wouldn’t have to worry about it getting damaged because of the water. With a water-resistant speaker, you would be able to take it to the beach with you or use it by the poolside, honestly, the possibilities are endless.

One thing you need to keep in mind, though, speakers with this feature might get a little more expensive than the regular ones, so you might want to think that through and go back to your budget to check whether you can afford it or not. It’s not usually a drastic difference in the price but that’s always something to consider.

To sum up, there are a few things you need to remember when buying a good Bluetooth speaker. First and foremost, it’s your decision that makes the purchase important – you need to think everything through, decide on what kind of speaker you would like to get, and establish your budget. After that, it’s all just research and ‘window shopping’. Don’t be afraid to spend more time browsing and looking at different types of speakers. After all, that’s exactly how you learn what you need to make the best purchase possible.
